It was a tough week for Atlantic Coast Conference teams. I was going to wait until after the FSU-Miami game to blog about the horrendous weekend for the ACC but it seems I'm getting beat to the punch by most main stream media. Drawing attention to the fact the ACC might be the worst football conference other than the Big East in the nation.
Virginia loses to William-Mary and Duke loses to Richmond both Footbal Sub-Division teams.
Maryland loses to Cal
Wake Forest drops one to Baylor.
NC State shows no offense, even with Russell Wilson, in losing to South Carolina.
Some bright spots even though expected were GA. Tech, Clemson, Boston College and North Carolina winning. With that said it is not like any of those teams were playing a national power.
Last but not least the one game that put the ACC on the national stage against a quality opponent was Virginia Tech and Alabama. We know how that turned out.
Another national stage game will be played again tonight with FSU/Miami. But with how both of these programs have been the last few years it will prove nothing unless one team totally blows the other out of the water. Even if that occurs the naysayers will just say, "Well those programs aren't what they once were."
With one week down it may be too early to say that an ACC will not be playing for the BCS. After this weekend though this conference will have to step it up to gain some respect.

How the heck did Virginia lose to William and Mary? Hoping that the Nolies beat the Canes tonight. It will help Florida's miserable strength of schedule if the Noles cruise through the season on their way to the showdown with Florida for Tebow's last home game.
