It doesn't come as a big surprise but longtime Florida State defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews announced today that this will be his last season at FSU, he will be retiring and spending time with his family.
Andrews became defensive coordinator in 1984 and helped the Noles capture 2 National Titles and 12 ACC Championships. Former NFL players that have played for Andrews include: Peter Boulware, Deion Sanders, Michael Boulware, Derrick Brooks, Buster Davis, Tommy Polley, Leroy Butler, Darnell Dockett and many more.
2009 has been disappointing for the Seminoles as their defense as lagged far behind the offensive product they are putting on the field.
Mickey, we will miss you!

Damn!!! Mickey has had some great defensive players at FSU while he was there!!! I think this is the first shoe to drop though. The next one will be making a bigger thud.

It was time for him to go, as it is for Booby...

There will probably never be a defensive cordinator / defensive mastermind like Mickey Andrews. No one in his right mind can ever dispute that. I am sad to see him go, but timing is everything. As an era ends a new one begins. I only hope that this "new" era holds as good as the last one did. Thanks Mickey for all the years of dedication.. Live and Die Garnet and Gold... GO NOLES!
