The Fightin Irish

Look out Dome haters...but Notre Dame could be finding itself in a BCS game or the National Championship Game if the Irish and can pull off a big win against USC on Oct.17. They already have a #18 ranking and we all know that the Irish can climb the polls faster than rabbit can have offspring if they are winning. No matter who they are winning against. While Charlie Weiss and his bunch do have some tough games, Michigan on the road, this weekend and throw in road games against Purdue, Pittsburgh and Stanford. It won't be a cake walk but the schedule does favor the Irish. Even the game against USC is under the shadow of Touchdown Jesus.

Leaving out the games already mentioned the rest of schedule has Michigan State, Washington, Boston College, Washington State, Navy and Connecticut. Take a look it's not murderer's road. The Irish can be making some noise come January. Whether is is warranted or not.

Don't get me wrong the Golden Domers have some talent with Jimmy Claussen, Armando Allen and Michael Floyd on the offensive side and a defense that is coming off thier first shutout since 2006.

I predict this, if they beat Michigan this weekend they start sniffing the top 10 and if they follow that up with a win over USC they are top five bound. Keep in mind they have to win the other games as well.

  1. How great it would be for Notre Dame and Florida to play each other in a BCS game! I know Meyer wanted to schedule Utah to open this season. He's already embarrassed Ohio State. Maybe he will want to play Bowling Green as well at some point?
